Claussen-Leahy Run/Walk Session Set for Feb. 15

The UNO Athletic Department will hold an informational brown bag lunch session to discuss the Claussen-Leahy Run/Walk on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Sapp Fieldhouse from noon to 1 p.m.

The session will let people know the opportunities that are available to individuals and UNO departments and colleges.

Bring your brown-bag lunch and we'll provide the drinks, as Trev  Alberts welcomes you to be a part of our event," said Pam Schwarting, director of community relations for Athletics.

Digital Measures Faculty Annual Review Workshops

The Office of Academic and Student Affairs will be holding three open workshops available to all full-time faculty. These workshops will cover the basics of using Digital Measures to generate reports for annual reviews. The workshops will be held at the following times:

* Wednesday, Feb. 8 – 107 Weber Fine Arts Building (9 to 10 a.m.)
* Friday, Feb. 10 – 260 Peter Kiewit Institute (2 to 3 p.m.)

'Times Talks' Series Comes to UNO

The faculty group, Newspapers in Curricula (NiC), is hosting the first Times Talks Series at UNO. Times Talks are informal conversations dealing with current issues in the news. Students are invited to share conversations over lunch with faculty moderators on various dates in February.

NiC encourages faculty to invite any interested and interesting students to participate. Free lunch for the first 15 students. Click on this link for details.

Feb. 18 Movin' After School Event at UNO

Movin' After School is hosting its fourth free family event called "Get Your Family Movin'" on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Building.

Exhibitors from local organizations including the Omaha Bike Project, Omaha Police Department Crime Prevention and others will be at the event.

The UNO Men's Soccer and University of Nebraska-Lincoln Women's Volleyball teams will provide fun physical activities and exercises for children. Former Nebraska Cornhuskers, Zach Potter, Todd Peterson, Ty Steinkuhler, Tyler Wortman and Nate Swift, will also be there to play games with the kids and support healthy living. An inflatable obstacle course will be available for children to enjoy. Raffle prizes will be given away during the event. Read more.

Dual Enrollment to Host Hockey Night

In conjunction with the Maverick hockey team's series with the University of Minnesota on Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25, at the CenturyLink Center Omaha, UNO's Dual Enrollment program will sponsor a pre-game tailgate and provide game-day tickets for Saturday’s game.

The tailgate, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m., will feature several dozen booths for many of UNO's colleges and departments, as well as free food and giveaways. After the tailgate, which will be held at the CentryLink Center Omaha’s Junior Ballroom, in the convention center portion of the building, participants will walk over to the arena to watch the hockey team take on Minnesota with a 7:07 p.m. start time. UNO Housing Showcase Set for Feb. 25

A campus-wide UNO Housing Showcase is set for Saturday, Feb. 25. Open to future UNO Mavericks or anyone else who wants to get a glimpse into college life, just stop in the Scott Conference Center from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to tour any of UNO's five residence halls.

Choices include any or all five of UNO's residence halls:
- Maverick Village
- University Village
- Scott Court
- Scott Hall
- Scott Village

Also, while on the Pacific Location visitors can partake in open houses from 1 to 3 p.m. at both the University of Nebraska Peter Kiewit Institute and Mammel Hall.
