Buffett Early Childhood Institute Candidate Visits the University of Nebraska
The first of four finalists for the position of founding executive director of the Buffett Early Childhood Institute will visit the University of Nebraska this week.
University of Nebraska campus visits by Carla A. Peterson conclude today, Feb. 2. An open forum for faculty, staff and members of the public who are interested in meeting her and hearing about her vision for the Buffett Institute will be held today at 3:30 p.m. in 412 Roskens Hall, at UNO. Today's forum will be followed by a reception.
Peterson has worked with early childhood programs for more than 35 years, and has held leadership and teaching positions in public and private agencies serving young children who are typically developing and who have disabilities. She has worked with programs operated by public schools, Head Start grantees, and private child care providers. Read more.

Up to TopTransportation Security Administration Speaker on Campus Next Week
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) - Nebraska invites UNO students to an introductory and informative meeting about the TSA on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Federal Security Director (FSD) Rick Gordon will also provide information on the application process, procedures and priorities when applying for positions with TSA, or other governmental agencies, and information that would be beneficial to include when applying to the Transportation Security Administration.
Two concurrent sessions will be held at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the 132 College of Public Affairs and Community Service. This event is open to all students at UNO.

A campus-wide UNO Housing Showcase is set for Saturday, Feb. 25. Open to future UNO Mavericks or anyone else who wants to get a glimpse into college life, just stop in the Scott Conference Center from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to tour any of UNO's five residence halls.
Choices include any or all five of UNO's residence halls:

Also, while on the Pacific Location visitors can partake in open houses from 1 to 3 p.m. at both the University of Nebraska Peter Kiewit Institute and Mammel Hall.

Up to TopMavericks To Host Kids Hockey Day This Sunday
Kids ages eight to 12 will get a chance to learn more about the sport of hockey from the UNO Mavericks during First National Bank's "Kids Hockey Day." The event will take place this Sunday, Feb. 5, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the CenturyLink Center Omaha.
Kids Hockey Day will include six activity stations with current and former UNO
players and coaches covering six different aspects of hockey. An autograph
session will follow the clinic.
Participants will receive a T-shirt, a game puck and a ticket to the Mavericks'
upcoming game against Minnesota on Feb. 24. Participation in Kids Hockey
Day is limited, so participants are encouraged to sign up early. The cost

Campus Rec Spring Instructional Programs
UNO Campus Rec will offer a variety of instructional program classes throughout the spring semester. The next class, Dance Lessons, starts this Saturday, Feb. 4.
The classes offered are: Women's Self Defense, Dance Lessons, Golf Lessons, Archery Lessons, Group Personal Training and a Martial Arts Academy. All classes are open to the UNO community and general public.
