If the Plattsmouth area can have its 'Ninja Cow,' then UNO can have an alien bunny. This rabbit was hunkered down under a campus tree and taking advantage of a ray of sunshine. The strange looking eye was actually caused by the camera's flash.
Third Senior Vice Chancellor Search Candidate to Visit UNO Today, Tomorrow
B.J. Reed, interim senior vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, University of Nebraska at Omaha, will make his official visit to UNO and be interviewed for the position of senior vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs starting today, Dec. 12. Dr. Reed is one of four finalists.
Today, Dec. 12, all faculty, staff, students and members of the public can attend Dr. Reed's campus community forum. It starts at 3:30 p.m. and will take place in the Milo Bail Student Center's Chancellor's Room. A reception will follow.
Students are encouraged to attend a forum with Dr. Reed that will take place in the Milo Bail Student Center's Jenkins Room on Tuesday, Dec. 13. The event runs from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m.
In addition to the forums, Dr. Reed will meet with a wide range of campus constituents, including faculty, staff and students. His official campus visit concludes Tuesday, Dec. 13.
The final senior vice chancellor candidate to make his official UNO campus visit is Dr. Gregory M. Sadlek, dean, College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, Cleveland State University. He will visit is Thursday and Friday, Dec. 15 and 16.
Dr. Rajib N. Sanyal, dean of Miller College of Business, Ball State University, was the first senior vice chancellor candidate to visit campus. The second candidate to visit UNO was Dr. Angela Laird Brenton, dean, College of Professional Studies at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Their visits occurred earlier this month.
Dr. Reed has served as interim vice chancellor for UNO Academic and Students Affairs since September. Since 2006, he has served as executive associate to the UNO chancellor. He became dean of the UNO College of Public Affairs and Community Service in 2001. He earned his doctorate from the University of Missouri in 1977.

Parking Permits for Spring 2012 Available Starting Today
Parking Services will open sales for Spring 2012 Parking Permits starting today, Dec. 12. All permits are required to be purchased online. Please log on to http://www.unomaha.edu/parking/ to make your purchase.
All permits must be picked up at the Parking Office, 107 Eppley Administration Building, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Faculty, staff and students will need to present their MavCard to pick up their permit.
The online purchasing system requires NetID username and password; primary vehicle information; and information on any additional vehicles that will be parking on campus.
This information includes the vehicle's year, make, model, color and license plate number.

Dec. 17 Commencement is First on Campus Since '96
More than 1000 students will graduate Saturday, Dec. 17, during UNO's winter commencement ceremony. This year's event will mark a new beginning for UNO as commencement will be held on campus for the first time since 1996.
The December Commencement 2011 ceremony will be held in the Lee and Helene Sapp Fieldhouse on the UNO Campus, 6001 Dodge St. This year's ceremony will be broken into two parts – a 10 a.m. event and a 2 p.m. event.
The 10 a.m. event will include the conferring of bachelor's, master's, doctor of education and doctor of philosophy degrees for the colleges of Arts and Sciences; Education; and Communication, Fine Arts and Media (CFAM). The 2 p.m. event will confer the same degrees to the colleges of Business Administration (CBA); Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS); Education and Human Sciences (UNL); and Information Science & Technology. Shingles Vaccine Available at UNO Health Services
UNO Health Services is now offering the Zostavax vaccine to its employees. Zostavax is a vaccine that can help prevent Shingles in adults 50 years of age or older. If you've ever had chicken pox you could get Shingles now. Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox.
A limited number of doses of this vaccine are available in Health Services, located in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building atrium. The cost of the vaccine is $210. If you have money left over in your Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) wellness and preventative care account this may be a way to use it up. The deadline is Friday, Dec. 23, 2011. UNO and Creighton Air Force/Army ROTC Conduct Food Drives
UNO and Creighton University Air Force and Army ROTC both have teamed up to host campus-wide food drives this week. Both ROTC's are helping to replenish the Hillsdale Community Food Bank.
"The South Omaha Food Bank was shutdown due to lack of food products," said Cpt. Tamra L. Holub, U.S. Army Blackwolves ROTC at Creighton. "Help the Army and Air Force ROTC to gather nonperishable canned food products for these children and their families."

Commencement ceremonies are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. in Sapp Fieldhouse on Saturday, Dec. 17.
There is open parking in campus parking lots during the commencement ceremonies.
Graduates should park in the East Parking Garage behind Arts and Sciences Hall.
