UNO Participants Sought for Aug. 27 Methodist Hospital/UNO Women's Triathlon
If you've ever wanted to participate in a triathlon, the Methodist Hospital/UNO Women's Triathlon is the perfect place to start. Join other area women on Saturday, Aug. 27, for the 8 a.m. triathlon at Wehrspann Lake and Chalco Hills Recreation Area, 8901 S. 154th St.
"This is a fun, noncompetitive introduction to the sport—no rigorous training required. We won't be recording your times or giving awards, so the pressure's off," said Todd Samland, UNO head women's swimming & diving coach and event organizer. "It's all about participating in a fun fitness event for women of all ages—so bring your mom, your daughter, or your best friend and try the sport!"
The entry fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt. All proceeds from the event go towards UNO's swimming and diving team.
For details and an entry form, go to http://www.omavs.com/news/2011/6/17/WSWIM_0617115129.aspx?path=wswim
"Even if you're a triathlon veteran, this event is the perfect way to challenge yourself—and challenge a friend to compete with you," Samland said.
