During the spring semester, UNO's Staff Advisory Council collected nearly 5,500 highlighters for the Salvation Army's Back-to-School Backpack Program. Creighton University and College of St. Mary also collected school supplies for the Salvation Army program earlier this year.

Criss Library to Host Reception for John Reidelbach Tomorrow

John Reidelbach, Criss Library electronic resource licensing librarian, will retire on Thursday, June 30, after 31 years of service to UNO.

The Criss Library will host a retirement reception for Reidelbach this Wednesday, May 25, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Criss Library Faculty Club.

IS&T Summer Workshops for Kids

The College of Information Science and Technology summer workshops are now available for registration online. A variety of computer technology topics will be offered in one-week sessions June 6 through July 29. St. Lucia Pajama Drive Ends Tomorrow

Recent UNO graduate and College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) alumna Amy Wieczorek is conducting a pajama drive for an orphanage she will be volunteering at in St. Lucia, South America this summer. The CPACS Dean's Office is co-sponsoring the drive. The St. Lucia Pajama Drive is under way now through Wednesday, May 25.

"I will be working at the orphanage teaching health and wellness classes to the youth," Wieczorek said. "I really wanted to make this trip special for the kids in the orphanage so I decided to put together a pajama drive."

Collecting donations of lightweight pajamas for youth ranging from infants to teenagers.

- metroMAGAZINE Office, located at 1000 N. 72nd St.;

- Aksarben Village Cinema, located at 2110 S. 67th St.

Summer hours for the Milo Bail Student Center Food Court, Library Cafe and MavRec Cafe:

*The American Grill, Greenfields, D'Cafe and Grab & Go will be open 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday

*The Library Cafe and MavRec Cafe are closed.

June 6 - First Day of classes:

HPER Pool Closing Reminder

The Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Pool is closed for the month of May for routine maintenance and cleaning.

During the closure, all Campus Rec members and Masters Swimmers will have access to the Brownell-Talbot School Pool for free. All swimmers must show their MavCard to gain access. The dates and times can be found at: http://www.unomaha.edu/wwwocr/aquatics/poolhours.php

UNO Recognizes TIP Participants, Awardees at Ceremony

On May 16 UNO was host to the 2011 Nebraska Recognition Ceremony for the Duke University Talent Identification Program's (TIP) 31st annual 7th Grade Talent Search.

The ceremony was held to recognize nearly 600 Nebraska seventh graders for their ACT and SAT scores. Most students take the ACT and/or SAT in their junior year of high school, in preparation for college applications. Read more.
