Every year UNO's youngest students get a taste of what it's like for the hundreds of UNO students graduating with their diplomas. While it may be the end of many undergraduates' education, for the preschoolers at the UNO Child Care Center their journey is just beginning.
English Department to Host Reception for McKenna and Skau
The Department of English will host a retirement reception for English professors John McKenna and Michael Skau, Monday, May 16, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Thompson Alumni Center. McKenna and Skau both retired at the end of the spring semester.

'Highlight the Need' Drive Extended Through May 17
The UNO "Highlight the Need" campaign is going strong, but 5,000 highlighter donation goal has not been met. With that in mind, the Staff Advisory Council has extended the drive through Tuesday, May 17.
Also, in an effort to maximize UNO's collection efforts, the UNO Alumni Association has made a generous offer to match the funds of the first $200 in donations for the campaign.
Hundreds of Omaha area school children are in need of supplies. Please consider being a part of the solution that makes sure they get those supplies. The UNO Bookstore is offering highlighters at four for $1. Read More.
Teaching in a Digital Age Workshop Starts Today
All faculty are invited to a two-day interactive workshop highlighting key principles of a digital learning environment. Participants will learn strategies to redesign course elements for the purpose of engaging students and improving learning. This is an interactive workshop in which participants are expected to bring a course syllabus and work collaboratively with colleagues to identify and discuss areas for improvement in their courses.

Fall 2011 Parking Services Changes Announced
Parking Services announces several changes effective at the start of the fall 2011 semester. These include parking permit prices, parking violation fines, appeal procedures and use of MavCard for garage access. Fall 2011 permits sales will begin on July 1, 2011.

Summer Hours Set for Campus Food Service
Campus summer food service hours are now set. Through June 6, the Milo Bail Student Center's American Grill, Greenfields, D'Cafe and Grab & Go will be open from 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Monday throught Friday. The Library Cafe and MavRec Cafe are closed.
Starting June 6, The American Grill, Greenfields, D'Cafe, Grab & Go and also Tomasittos will be open from 7 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Library Cafe and MavRec Cafe will re-open on June 6 and keep the same weekday 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. schedule.
Bike Omaha Commuter Challenge Now Underway
Looking for an excuse to get back on a bicycle? Need motivation to get more exercise? Want to reduce dependency on oil while saving money? Team UNO is looking for faculty and staff (including students employed by UNO) to participate in this year's Bike Omaha Commuter Challenge.
The Challenge started May 1 and ends Oct. 1. Anyone can join anytime during this period and any amount of bike-to-work commuting counts (both miles and number of trips). There are no meetings to attend, no practice required and plenty of bike parking available. For the past three years UNO has come in first place in its division in the city.

Campus Rec Group Ex Introduces Summer Fit Series
The Summer Fit Series is a pilot program geared toward people wanting to increase their fitness level by being pushed a little harder than a normal group fitness class.
The session will start Monday, May 16, and lasts six weeks. There will be a class offered Monday through Friday that focuses on different areas such as, cardio, core and flexibility. Each class will be offered twice daily to accommodate participants' schedules.
There is no charge for this session of Summer Fit Series, but all participants must be UNO students or Campus Rec members.

HPER Pool Closed For Maintenance
The Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Pool is closed and will remain closed for the month of May for routine maintenance and cleaning.
During the closure, all Campus Rec members and Masters Swimmers will have access to the Brownell-Talbot School Pool for free. All swimmers must show their MavCard to gain access. The dates and times can be found at: http://www.unomaha.edu/wwwocr/aquatics/poolhours.php
