NUFlex Open Computer Labs Available for Annual Enrollment

NUFlex Open Computer Labs will be available for benefit-eligible faculty and staff who would like some assistance with the 2011 annual enrollment.

Only a few days remain for 2010 NUFlex enrollment. Since this year's enrollment is online only, Human Resources will conduct two open computer labs for employees requiring a computer or additional assistance.

The labs will be offered in the 104 Durham Science Center:

• Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2:30 to 4 p.m.
• Monday, Nov. 29, 10 to 11:30 a.m.

French Honor Society to Host Free Film Screening in Criss Library

The French Honor Society, Pi Delta Phi, will showcase a free screening of the film 'Il y a longtemps que je t'aime' today, Nov. 22, in the Criss Library theater at 6:45 p.m. The movie is subtitled in English and is open to the UNO community.

Stand-Up Comedy and Poetry Slam Event is Tonight

Honors Program Now Collecting for Clothing Drive

The University Honors Program is now collecting new or gently-used winter coats, jackets, scarves, hats, gloves, mittens and boots for the children at Liberty Elementary School in downtown Omaha.

Collection boxes will be placed in the Honors Program office in 105 Arts and Sciences Hall, Kayser Hall, 213 Mammel Hall, Durham Science Center and the Milo Bail Student Center. The drive continues through Friday, Dec. 10. Cash or check contributions for the drive can also be sent to the University Honors Program.

Campus Security Offers Holiday Safety Tips

The Campus Security staff would like to remind the campus community of some common sense safety tips to practice during the holiday season.

• When a person leaves his or her room or office, lock it up, even if it's only for a few minutes.
• Avoid leaving valuables or packages in plain view in a vehicle. Place them in the trunk or between the seats. When possible, do so before parking.
• During the holiday break, take valuables home from campus offices and residence halls.
• Anyone who is going to be working on campus late in the evening or when few people are around should consider advising Campus Security so that an officer can pay special attention to the area.
• Anyone entering a locked residence hall or campus building should make sure the door closes completely. Strangers should not follow anyone into a secure building.
• Students who live on campus and are leaving town for the holidays should make sure they have someone keeping an eye on their residence and leave emergency contact information.

Criss Library Sponsoring Holiday Scholastic Children's Book Fair

The campus community and the public can do holiday shopping and support the Criss Library at the same time during the Scholastic Children's Book Fair. Criss Library will sponsor the event Monday, Nov. 29, from 5 to 9 p.m., and Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Books for children of all ages, holiday titles, instructional materials, games, videos and toys will be for sale. Donations also will be accepted for Girls Inc. All proceeds will benefit the library's juvenile book collection.

Final 2010 UNO-United Way Drawing Winner is Thomas Wallace

Thank you to Thomas Wallace for contributing. The winner of the last 2010 UNO-United Way drawing is Wallace, associate vice chancellor for Student Affairs. His name was chosen randomly from all those who are new to UNO's campaign this year.

Wallace's prize for winning is assisting with the feeding of the marmosets in Allwine Hall.

UNO met its 2010 United Way goal by raising more than $70,000.

Applicants Sought for 2011 Nebraska Certified Public Manager Program

The Nebraska Certified Public Manager ® (CPM) Program is now accepting applications for its 2011 class.

The Nebraska CPM program is a nationally accredited comprehensive management development program. The UNO School of Public Administration launched the CPM Program in January of 2009. The program's primary purpose is to foster and encourage the highest possible levels of performance and ethical practice in public and nonprofit managers. Applications for the 2011 Omaha class of Nebraska CPM are due by Tuesday, Nov. 30. Each application will be reviewed upon receipt of completed packets.

UNO UFO Study Group Weekly Schedule Reminder

During the fall semester, the UNO UFO Study Group will meet every Wednesday in the Milo Bail Student Center (MBSC) Jenkins Room from noon to 1 p.m. and every Saturday in 285 Durham Science Center (DSC) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anyone with an interest in the UFO phenomenon is encouraged to attend.
