UNO Aviation Students Meet FAA Administrator

The UNO students and faculty advisor Byers met FAA Administrator Babbitt at the 82nd annual American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) conference and exhibition in Dallas. The three-day event provided education and networking opportunities for UNO's aviation students. They also met the incoming chair of AAAE, Jim Bennett, executive director of the Abu Dhabi Airport Authority.

Despite the rain, music fans popped open their umbrellas and surrounded UNO's Henningson Memorial Campanile on Sunday morning for the annual July 4th Carillon Concert. UNO carilloneur Shannon Richards ascended the tower to the keyboard to perform 30 minutes of patriotic music.
Homecoming Week 2010 Activities Sought
The UNO Alumni Association requests all campus departments and organizations to submit any activities or events they have planned during this year's Homecoming Week, Monday, Sept. 27, through Saturday, Oct. 2. All submitted events will be added to a master schedule that will then be used to help promote the week. Pathways to Harmony Program Offered on July 26
A new and updated Pathways to Harmony program is scheduled for Monday, July 26, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Milo Bail Student Center Dodge Room. The professional development program brings together students, faculty and staff to explore diversity. All faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend.
"We are excited about presenting updated material that keeps the campus focused on issues of diversity," said Sharon Ulmar, associate director and director of Equal Employment Opportunity, Human Resources. "It will help to enhance respectful relationships and create an open and constructive dialogue about diversity on the UNO campus."

R.S.V.P. Deadline Tomorrow for SPR Grant Management Information Series
The Office of Sponsored Programs and Research (SPR) will host the Grant Management Information Series (GMIS), a series of three informational sessions for individuals across campus who are involved with the administration of externally funded activities. The intent of these sessions is to help explain the procedures associated with grant proposal submission, fiscal management and project reporting.
There will be three sessions offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided. All events will take place in the Milo Bail Student Chancellor's Room.

Flying Mavs Selling Cox Classic Tickets for Fundraiser
The Cox Classic, which will be held in Omaha Monday, July 26, through Sunday, Aug. 1, is the premier event on the Nationwide Tour (the development tour for the U.S.-based PGA Tour). The Flying Mavs, UNO's competition flight team, is proud to be one of the official charity ticket sellers for the Cox Classic presented by Lexus of Omaha. The team is currently selling tickets online at http://coxclassic15.digbro.com.
The flight team receives 80 to 90 percent of the ticket sales depending on which ticket individuals purchase. Proceeds will be used to help cover the cost of the Flying Mavs practice, travel, lodging and competition flight time for the 2010-11 year.

Walking Rally 2010 Challenge Continues on Campus
event has been designated a UNO Mav-Rec Wellness event.
The Staff Advisory Council (SAC) and Human Resources (HR) have collaborated on this summer's "Walking Rally 2010 Challenge."
"This fun-filled event is designed to improve the physical well-being and mental health among UNO employees while decreasing stress levels," said Mollie Anderson, director of Human Resources. "We also invite you to share your ideas/suggestions for ways to improve staff morale."
The challenge runs through Tuesday, Aug. 10. There are three quizzes with three different themes created by the Walking Rally Committee. Each quiz has 10 to 15 questions. The answers can be found in different locations around campus. Attached below are the three quizzes to choose from.
"You may work alone or in a group," Anderson said. "Not only do you get to enjoy a walk around campus, you also get to learn more about the campus."
Participants interested in tracking their miles can pick up a pedometer for $6 at the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building Mav-Rec Assess Desk.
"What a great way to combine fun and exercise while enhancing your knowledge about the UNO campuses," said Kim Kronschnabel, SAC member. "Please join in on the fun! We look forward to your enthusiastic participation."
Return completed quizzes to a SAC member by Tuesday, Aug. 10. The Walking Rally Committee will draw winners' names from the returned quizzes. Each quiz will have one winner, for a total of three winners in all. The drawing will be held the week before the annual Faculty/Staff Picnic, and the winners will be announced and prizes awarded at the Tuesday, Aug. 17, picnic.
