Despite the rain, music fans popped open their umbrellas and surrounded UNO's Henningson Memorial Campanile on Sunday morning for the annual July 4th Carillon Concert. UNO carilloneur Shannon Richards ascended the tower to the keyboard to perform 30 minutes of patriotic music.

UNO to Host Summit and Conference Connected to Special Olympics
UNO will host both the National Youth Activation Summit and the National Education Conference beginning on Sunday, July 18. The two events are closely connected to Special Olympics' USA National Games, which starts in Lincoln on the same day.
More than 300 people are expected to attend the Summit and Conference. Participants will include special education and general education teachers, students and Special Olympic athletes from around the country. Mike Messerole, a professor in the UNO School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation, serves as the campus coordinator for both events. Read more.Up to Top
Weber Fine Arts Dock Closing Reminder
Facilities Management and Planning announces that starting today, July 12, contractors will be working on the Weber Fine Arts Building roof above the east dock. The area will be cordoned off and persons normally accessing the building through the dock entrance will need to enter the building from the north or southwest. The project will take approximately three weeks.

NeSIS Training/Overview Session Tomorrow
The UNO Nebraska Student Information System (NeSIS) team continues to host training/overview sessions in records and registration for faculty and staff who need a PeopleSoft SIS account. The next session will be this Tuesday, July 13.
All sessions will take place on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. in 106U Eppley Administration Building. The current planned sessions:

Summer Faculty Recruitment Workshop This Thursday
The UNO Office of Academic and Student Affairs and the UNO Office of Diversity and Equal Opportunity will host two Summer Faculty Recruitment Workshops this month. The first is set for this Thursday, July 15.
Before anyone can serve on a UNO Faculty Search Committee they must have attended one of these recruitment workshops within the past two years. Anyone anticipating search committee involvement is encouraged to register and participate.

Next Wellness and Nutrition Seminar July 20
This event has been designated a UNO Mav-Rec Wellness event.
Faculty, staff and students are invited to hear Hy-Vee dietitian Karisa Jansen as part of UNO Human Resources Summer Wellness and Nutrition Series. The brown-bag series continues next week with healthy snacking tips.

Current Faculty/Staff Picnic Set for Aug. 17
Food, fun and free prizes will take center stage on campus Tuesday, Aug. 17, at the 2010 UNO Faculty/Staff Picnic. The event - sponsored by Chancellor John Christensen, the Staff Advisory Council and Faculty Senate - will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Milo Bail Student Center Ballroom. This year's picnic will feature a tropical theme.
The picnic is for currently employed faculty and staff members only. R.S.V.P. registration forms must be submitted to Kim Kronschnabel in 109 Eppley Administration Building by Wednesday, July 28, to be eligible for the prize drawings.
