UNO Hosts Librarians

More than 200 librarians from Nebraska and the surrounding states of Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota and Missouri attended the 2010 Heartland School Library Conference held June 14 & 15 at UNO's Thompson Alumni Center. Educational technology/library consultant Pam Berger was a keynote speaker at the conference hosted by UNO's College of Education.
SIS/E-BRUNO Scheduled Downtime June 30
The SIS system and E-BRUNO will be unavailable beginning at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, for the conversion of student account information to mavlink. The system is scheduled to be back online mid-morning on Thursday, July 1. Student account balances will be made available in mavlink by Friday, July 2.
Balances from summer term and prior will be transferred at that time and will be updated daily. Students can continue to view the account detail via E-BRUNO; however, they must make their payments through mavlink. Payments will be transferred daily to E-BRUNO.

Bank of the West Concert Friday; Free Parking at UNO
The annual "Bank of the West Celebrates America" concert takes place Friday, July 2, at Memorial Park from 6 to 10 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, and UNO will again provide free parking.
This year's entertainment includes Foreigner, Styx and Kansas. A fireworks finale will follow the performances at 10 p.m.
Be aware that the campus usually fills shortly after 7 p.m. In addition to surface parking lots, UNO's multi-level parking garage (University Drive East Parking Structure) will be open after 4 p.m. Event organizers encourage those who park on campus to use the pedestrian overpass when crossing Dodge Street.
Shuttle service between the UNO Dodge and Pacific Locations stops at 6 p.m. during the summer. People who park at the Pacific Location for the concert will not be able to take the shuttle back to their cars after 6 p.m.

Hy-Vee Dietician to Present Wellness and Nutrition Seminar Tomorrow
This event has been designated a UNO Mav-Rec Wellness event.
Faculty, staff and students are invited to hear Hy-Vee dietitian Karisa Jansen as part of UNO Human Resources Summer Wellness and Nutrition Series. The brown-bag series continues Tuesday, June 29, with tips on adopting a heart-healthy diet.

The UNO Nebraska Student Information System (NeSIS) team continues to host training/overview sessions in admissions and records and registration for faculty and staff who need a PeopleSoft SIS account. The next session will be on Tuesday, June 29.

HR to Offer Smart Money Seminar Wednesday
Human Resources will offer a smart money seminar Wednesday, June 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Milo Bail Student Center Chancellor's Room. The free event is open to the entire UNO community, and reservations are not required.
The topic for the informative seminar is "Raising Wise Kids, Teaching Your Children Money and Budgeting." Tahnee Markussen, a financial educator from Consumer Credit Counseling Service, will lead the event.
The seminar will feature practical tips and information on getting the most out of money. Attendees are invited to bring their lunches.

July 4 Carillon Concert This Sunday
The bells on campus will ring in honor of America Sunday, July 4, in conjunction with a carillon concert set for 9 a.m.
UNO carilloneur Shannon Richards will perform a 30-minute concert of patriotic melodies. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are invited to bring their lawn chairs and sit on the grassy area between Criss Library and the Strauss Performing Arts Center. Read more.Up to Top

Lotus Notes E-mail Availability on Mobile Devices
Information Services (IS) has added mobile access for Lotus Notes (LN) e-mail via Lotus Notes Traveler for UNO faculty and staff. LN Traveler provides quick access to e-mail, including attachments, calendar and address book for several mobile devices.
LN Traveler is available for the following mobile device

- Apple iPod Touch;
- Nokia Symbian devices (S60); and
- Microsoft Windows Mobile (5, 6 and 6.1).
