CVS Caremark and Walgreens Pharmacies Agreement Reminder
Human Resources reminds UNO faculty and staff that an agreement has been reached that will provide Walgreens' continued participation in the CVS Caremark national pharmacy network. This means employees and plan members may continue to obtain prescriptions at Walgreens and other pharmacies participating in the CVS Caremark national network.
The CVS Caremark network includes more than 64,000 retail pharmacies, including numerous chain and independent pharmacies. As long as CVS Caremark members fill prescriptions at a network pharmacy, including Walgreens, regular copayments will not change. A listing of network pharmacies in Nebraska and Iowa is available at http://www.nebraska.edu/faculty-and-staff/benefits/health/cvs-caremark-nebraska-pharmacy-directory.html.
"We apologize for any inconvenience the previously announced change may have caused you. We were aware when we made the initial announcement that Walgreens has a history of threatening to leave our network, then reversing its position," said Keith Dietze, director of universitywide benefits. "However, with a July 9 deadline looming, and considering the number of inquiries we received on this matter, we had to take Walgreens' statements at face value and communicate with you."
