Slingshot Competition Today to Collect Pink Erasers

In an effort to assist the Salvation Army's Back-to-School Backpack Program, the UNO Staff Advisory Council (SAC) has launched a campus campaign to collect new pink erasers.

Students, faculty and staff can do some launching of their own at the Erase the Need slingshot contest, and win prizes. Pink erasers will be flying from slingshots from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, May 6, at Caniglia Field. The cost to participate is $1, which purchases four erasers for the Salvation Army fundraiser. There is no charge to watch at the football field…if you can resist the urge to sling.

The collection runs through Friday, May 7. Faculty, staff and students are also encouraged to donate new pink erasers at drop boxes across campus.

To date, UNO has collected about 1,500 pink erasers toward its goal of 5,000.

UNO has engaged in a friendly competition with Creighton University, which is collecting rulers for the Salvation Army program.

Pink erasers can be purchased at the UNO Bookstore at a cost of four for $1.
