A Winter Wonderland

Campus grew quiet this week as a new dusting of snow blanketed drifts that collected during the last storm. Bone-chilling winds kept many faculty and staff indoors.
Telephone System Upgrade Reminder
New components were integrated into UNO's telecommunications environment over the weekend. These components will permit UNO to support upcoming physical expansions, enhance system survivability, provide more robust features and facilitate cost control.
The integration will generally be transparent to the UNO community. There are, however, several changes that are apparent today which will affect telephone and voice mail users.
- Local and Long Distance Access
The dialed star (*) in front of the "9" is no longer required. Off-campus access now requires dialing a "9" plus the local or long distance number.
- University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) Access
Calls to UNMC now need to be dialed with their full local number, i.e., "9.559.XXXX".
UNO now has a new voice mail system. Consequently, each UNO voice mail user will be required activate a new voice mailbox. This five-minute process prompts the voice mailbox owner to enter a new password, system identification and personalize any greetings. The new voice mail system is currently available.
The new UNO voice mail system also has a new access telephone number: 402.554.MAIL (6245). [On-campus = 4.MAIL (6245) / Locally = 554.MAIL (6245) / Long Distance/Internationally = 402.554.MAIL (6245)].
Calls started being routed to the new voice mail system on Jan. 10. Old messages in the 9.5970 system will remain stored there until Monday, Feb. 8, at which time they will be deleted and will not be recoverable.
Any questions/issues/troubles can be directed to 554.3036.Up to Top

mavlink to Replace E-BRUNO Starting This February
Both E-BRUNO for Faculty and E-BRUNO for Students will be replaced by mavlink this semester. mavlink is the new web portal being implemented as part of the NeSIS student information system project. Starting Monday, Feb. 8, E-BRUNO will only be accessible through mavlink providing access to the current SIS Plus system through the summer semester. mavlink will be the only platform for self-service functions of the new PeopleSoft student information system moving forward.
As part of the change, the UNO "PIN" number is being replaced by the "TrueYou" password. This universal password will travel with students if they transfer between campuses. The combination of NU ID and password will be required to login to mavlink.
Faculty and staff already utilize NU ID and password to access Firefly for NUFlex enrollment and reviewing pay advises (mavlink login will be exactly the same).
Current students will receive an e-mail before Feb. 8 with instructions on how to establish their password. In addition, current students will be prompted to establish their password each time they log into E-BRUNO until they complete the process. New students will create this password as part of the enrollment process.
Look to future eNotes articles for additional information. Visit the UNO NeSIS Web site, http://www.unomaha.edu/nesis/, for project information, a schedule of upcoming town hall informational meetings and tutorials.Up to Top
