Gray threatening skies didn't deter the crowd for this year's July 4 carillon concert. UNO's Dr. James Johnson presented a 45-minute long concert of patriotic songs for the assembled audience.

New UNO Employee Discount Program Available

UNO is partnering with PerkSpot to offer a new Employee Discount Program for all UNO faculty, staff, retirees and students.

PerkSpot is an innovative online resource that offers discounts and rebates on goods and services from some of the top brand names in the U.S. UNO has become first campus in the University of Nebraska system to use the PerkSpot service.

"We have partnered with PerkSpot to help save you and your family money with discounts on a wide range of products and services from some of the best nationally known companies," said Mollie Anderson, director of Human Resources. "You will find valuable offers from your favorite merchants through PerkSpot including: Target, Barnes & Noble, AMC Theatres, Sprint, Dell and many other merchants."

For easy reference, a Web site with a listing of participating local stores and online vendors, is available for faculty, staff, retirees and students to view. To take advantage of the UNO Employee Discount Program, eligible participants need to first register for an account with PerkSpot.

- Visit http://uno.perkspot.com/;

- Click "Sign up" and type the required information;

- Enter "group code" -- UNO;

- Register a work or personal e-mail address; and

- A confirmation e-mail containing "how to login" instructions will be sent.

PerkSpot staff will add new deals and offers daily.

"An easy way to find out what offers are new is to watch for the Widgets on the site," Anderson said. "You can also sign up to get e-mail alerts sent directly to your in box."

PerkSpot will host the clearing-house of offers for UNO participants. Individuals can recommend other merchants be added to UNO's listing. Parking Lot Change, Visitor Parking Moving by Annex 24

Work to establish Lot I (directly west of Annex 24), begins this week when construction starts on converting the east row of Lot G into a gated lot. Lot I will be reserved for Welcome Center visitors and some special events in the Weber Fine Arts Building.

Faculty and staff are reminded that guaranteed parking is still available in Lots J and L. There are a limited number of stalls available in those lots.

Travel and Transport Transaction Fee Update

Effective July 1, the transaction fees charged to the department cost objects for air fare tickets purchased through Travel and Transport (T&T), have changed to the following:

- Phone purchases through traditional agent
$18 (previously $20);

- Internet purchases through T&T Web site
$8 (previously $10); and

- Group purchases (groups of 10 or more)
$5 (previously $20).

Airfare tickets purchased and charged to a personal credit card for university business travel will remain the same at $10 and $20 and personal ticket purchases will be at $12 and $22.

Fidelity Representative Offers Summer Counseling Sessions

Fidelity representative Jason Cronick will be in Omaha this summer for individual counseling sessions from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on several days.
