Participants enrolled in the Omaha Jazz Workshop summer camp were busy last week under the watchful eye of Jim Widner. The week-long camp is designed for middle school, high school and college students, and adults. Students learned about jazz theory, improvisation and performance. The students served as the opening act of a June 19 concert featuring the Jim Widner Big Band in the Strauss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.

"Macbeth" Continues on Stage Tonight for Shakespeare on the Green

The Nebraska Shakespeare Festival  (NSF) Shakespeare on Green continues tonight, June 24, with "Macbeth." The 2009 production, set in nearby Elmwood Park, ends this week June 24-28.

The event is free to the many thousands of supporters who come to a family-friendly and magical experience. Many arrive early with their picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs to get a good spot "on the green." Read more.

Surplus Property Now Available for Viewing Online

All Surplus Property furniture and items are now available for viewing online at http://www.unomaha.edu/mailservices/ by clicking on "Surplus Property." All are available for department use only.

Items include:

- Bookcases;

- Desks;

- Chairs; and

- Tables.

Items can also be viewed by appointment at Mail Services, 106 Eppley Administration Building. To set up an appointment, call Tom Feldman at 554.2222.

Budget Forum Tomorrow

UNO Chancellor John Christensen will host a campus forum focused on the university budget Thursday, June 25, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the College of Public Affairs and Community Service Building (CB). All members of the campus community - faculty, staff and students - are welcome to attend.

Like the three earlier forums that took place during the spring semester, this event will be an informational session on the 2009-2010 budget. Senior Vice Chancellor Terry Hynes and Vice Chancellor Bill Conley, who have led the campus Budget Advisory Task Force, will also help lead the presentation and discussion.

The event will take place in the CB Collaborating Commons, and seating will be available for 100. Arriving early is encouraged.

Parking Meter Relocation Notice

To accommodate the new Pacific shuttle bus route that starts Monday, July 6, parking meters will be moved from Lot M to Lot E.

New Pacific Shuttle Bus Route Begins July 6

Starting Monday, July 6, the new Pacific shuttle bus will only drop off passengers at the northeast corner of Lot Q (near the Bell Tower) and pick up individuals in the north part of Lot M (lower level south of Criss Library).

From Nov. 1 through to March 12, 2010, an inter-campus shuttle bus will circle the Dodge location and drop off/pick up students at all the regular shuttle stops.

Fidelity Representative Offers Summer Counseling Sessions

Fidelity representative Jason Cronick will be in Omaha this summer for individual counseling sessions from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on several days.

Available dates are:

Replace clogged air filters to improve gas mileage. Changing air filters on vehicles before they are clogged will increase gas mileage by as much as 10 percent and protect a vehicle's engine.
