Shakespeare on the Green Continues at Elmwood

Shakespeare on the Green continues tonight, July 3, at Elmwood Park with "King Lear."

Two Department of Theatre professors are directing the free performances. D. Scott Glasser directs "King Lear," which also will be staged Sunday, July 6. Cindy Melby Phaneuf, founding artistic director of Shakespeare on the Green, directs "Much Ado About Nothing," has its final performance Saturday, July 5.

Pre-show seminars and entertainment will begin at 6:30 p.m., with performances starting at 8 p.m. each night. Patrons can also pre-order "Much Ado For Two" dinner baskets.

"Consider This" to Investigate Nebraska Real Estate Market

From Scottsbluff to Omaha, "Consider This" host Cathy Wyatt and her guests will check out Nebraska real estate prices, interest rates and foreclosures. Guests will include John Lorkovic, a real estate agent, and Eric Almquist, a loan officer. The show will also focus on the state's real estate forecast.

The program airs tonight, July 3, at 11 p.m. on NET1.

Criss Library Electrical Outage Set for July 5

Criss Library has a scheduled electrical outage set for Saturday, July 5. No online resources and services will be available from 6 p.m. Saturday through noon Sunday, July 6.

Services should be returned by the library's opening on Sunday. This electrical outage affects access to the online databases and the library catalog.

Summer Group Ex Session 2 Begins July 7

Campus Recreation and the Wellness Stampede have teamed up to host a variety of Group Ex classes this summer at UNO. Session 2 runs Monday, July 7, through Friday, Aug. 8.

All classes will be held in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation Building. Group Ex classes are free to all current students and Campus Recreation cardholders. Summer activity cards are available for $30.

Carillon Concert July 4

The bells on the UNO campus will ring in honor of America Friday, July 4, in conjunction with a carillon concert set for 9 a.m.

UNO carilloneur James Johnson will perform a 30-minute concert of patriotic melodies. The event is free and open to the public. Read more.

Car Wash for Boy Scouts Fundraiser

High school students participating in the Summer Scholars program, organized by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, will host a car wash from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, at Burger King, 78th and Dodge Streets.

Funds raised will be donated to the Boy Scouts of America Mid-America Council, which lost four Scouts earlier this year during a tornado in Little Sioux, Iowa.

The annual Summer Scholars program gives high school students a hands-on experience of life at college.

Participants Sought for UNMC Depression Study

The University of Nebraska Medical Center Department of Psychiatry is seeking individuals ages 19 to 65, who are experiencing depression, to participate in a 10-week research study of an investigational medication for depression. All study procedures and medications are provided.
