SAC to Host Open HR Forum for Jim Friel Today
The Staff Advisory Council (SAC) will hold a forum for Jim Friel, the first finalist for the UNO Human Resources director position today, July 1. Friel currently serves as the assistant vice president for human resources at ACT Inc.
Today's open forum starts at 2 p.m. in the Milo Bail Student Center Council Room and will last an hour. All members of the university community – faculty, staff and students – and the public are encouraged to attend. In addition to the open forums, the finalists will tour campus and meet with UNO officials. Three more finalists will visit campus next week.

Parking Structure Maintenance Notice
The parking structure stairwells will undergo maintenance starting today, July 1. The northwest stairwell of the parking structure will be closed today for concrete repair. On Wednesday, July 2, the northeast stairwell of the parking structure will be closed. Barring any unforeseen issues, both areas should be able to be reopened the morning following their repairs.

Car Wash for Boy Scouts Fundraiser
High school students participating in the Summer Scholars program, organized by the Office of Multicultural Affairs, will host a car wash from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, at Burger King, 78th and Dodge Streets.
Funds raised will be donated to the Boy Scouts of America Mid-America Council, which lost four Scouts earlier this year during a tornado in Little Sioux, Iowa.
The annual Summer Scholars program gives high school students a hands-on experience of life at college.

Call-for-Papers for 2009 International Quilt Study Center & Museum at UNL
The International Quilt Study Center & Museum at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) has issued a call-for-papers for its 2009 symposium, "The Global Quilt: Cultural Contexts." The deadline for submissions is Friday, Aug.15.

Workshops for all part-time faculty at UNO will take place Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 20-21, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in Arts and Sciences Hall.

- A teaching tips panel;
- Introduction to UNO resources services and campus safety; and
- Advanced information technology services for experienced part-time faculty.
