Dual Enrollment Biology Approval Requirements for High School Teachers

High School AP Biology Teachers interested in becoming approved as dual enrollment instructors for biology are encouraged to apply for UNO Biology Department approval. The Department of Biology offers Biology I (1450), Biology II (1750), and Environmental Biology (1330) as college coursework earned concurrent with AP Biology if the department approves the high school teacher. Requirements for approval and application material needed to apply to the program are listed below.

Approval Criteria for Participating AP Biology Teachers

  • Master's degree in biology or closely-related field, 3.0 overall GPA in Masters program - Master's degree in science education may be considered on an individual basis
  • Minimum 1 year teaching Advanced Placement Biology
  • Applications are subject to whole-department review for approval
  • Successful completion of additional coursework may be required on a case-by-case basis (Tuition for such coursework may be covered by the department) before approval is granted

Application Materials for Teachers

  • Current curriculum vitae indicating degree(s) earned and GPA
  • Copies of unofficial transcripts showing coursework and GPA
  • Course syllabus of AP Biology course(s) taught/teaching/will teach
  • Sample exams and quizzes
  • Send the above material and completed applicant questionnaire as a single file to:
