2011/2012 School Year

Welcome to the Dual Enrollment Biology Website. Our program supports and offers college Biology I (1450) and Biology II (1750) for high school students enrolled in Advanced Placement Biology. Participating high schools have approved college level adjunct instructors that teach high school AP Biology at the college level. This gives students the opportunity in high school to earn up to 10 college credit hours through the Department of Biology at UNO. Below are listed further benefits for participating in the Dual Enrollment program:

Dual Enrollment Biology Program Benefits for Instructors and Class

  • Vernier lab equipment and experiment outreach into high school classrooms

  • Professor visits and in high school classroom lectures

  • Star Tours of scientific laboratories in the Department of Biology, UNO

  • Case by case review for teacher scholarships relevant to completing a Master program to meet 18 credit hour criteria for Dual Enrollment Department of Biology approval.

  • Classroom equipment provision by application and available budget allowance.

  • On campus scientific labs that meet or exceed AP biological laboratory requirements.

  • Teacher workshop held once a year so that Dual Enrollment approved instructors can meet on campus faculty and tour labs, find out about research opportunities for students and resources available on campus, as well as exchange of ideas and program facilitation.

  • Payment of substitute teachers and transportation costs for on campus labs and field trips.

  • Dual Enrollment newsletter and website updates for Dual Enrollment faculty and students.
