The Division of Continuing Studies offers the Bachelor of General Studies degree with an area of concentration in Nonprofit Administration. This area of concentration is available both online and on campus. Thirty (30) semester hours are required. No less than nine hours of upper division must be completed.

Required:

PA 2170 Introduction to Public Administration 3 hrs
PA 3500 Non Profit Organizations & Management (prereq: junior or permission of instructor) 3 hrs
PA 3000 Applied Statistics and Data Management (prereq: PA MATH 1310) 3 hrs
PA 3200 Program Planning and Evaluation (prereq: PA 3000) 3 hrs
PA 3600 Personnel and Volunteer Management for Nonprofits (prereqs: PA 2170, PA 3500) 3 hrs
PA 3700 Financial Management for Nonprofits (prereqs: PA 2170, PA 3500) 3 hrs
PA 4100 Marketing in Public and Nonprofit Organizations 3 hrs
PA 4500 Nonprofit Fundraising (prereqs: PA 3500 or permission of instructor) 3 hrs
PA 4530 Strategic Planning 3 hrs

American Humanics Certification is available. Requirements may be met through coursework in your core requirement. Please see an adviser for details.

Online Students: Plan to take PA 2170 and PA 3500 as early as possible in your studies since these courses are prerequisites for many of the other PA courses. Also note that few online PA courses are offered during the Summer term, so expect to complete most major courses during Fall and Spring semesters.

Career Information:
An area of concentration in nonprofit administration will prepare students for careers in nonprofit organizations, such as direct service organizations, public interest groups, community organizations, professional associations, and foundations. Students will skills in the key components of nonprofit organizations: managing people, finances, information, service delivery, fundraising, marketing, and program evaluation. It will also provide the necessary knowledge to pursue an advanced degree, if desired.
