welcome.

The Crop is the University of Nebraska-Omaha's student writing organization. It is a valuable networking tool for writers within the university and the community. Crop officers include:

President Dianne Hradsky
dhradsky@unomaha.edu

Vice-President Megan Wright
meganwright@unomaha.edu

Secretary Sunshine Dalton
sdalton@unomaha.edu

Treasurer Jeanette DeFord
jdeford@unomaha.edu

The Crop workshops on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month. We meet in the Weber Fine Arts Building, room 318, at 6 p.m. Bring a couple copies of anything new, improved, or in progress. Submit work in advance and copies will be made for you. Email your selection to any officer. Or leave a physical draft, with a note indicating the date of the workshop, in The Crop mailbox (WFAB 310) one week in advance. Creative non-fiction, fiction, poetry, and other genre works are welcome. Be prepared to read your piece, and comment on others.

Electronic workshops are conducted through the discussion board feature of The Crop Blackboard site. Writers upload work as an attachment to a new thread. Comments are made on the same thread. To participate, send your UNO username to any of the officers listed above.

In addition to regular Cropshops and the Blackboard site, reading events and writing opportunities are announced on The Crop Facebook page. Join us, and take creative writing to the next level.

Take advantage of the new Faculty Reading Series facilitated by The Crop. Professors read and perform for their students and community throughout the spring semester.

Our most ambitious endeavor is the new student publication: Perennial. Submission guidlines are as follows:

  • open to all currently enrolled students of UNO
