Mark your Calendar. 19th Annual Nebraska State Data Center Users Conference - August 14

Stay current with the latest Census data, products, methods of access, and applications. The newly implemented American Community Survey, or “annual census”, will be discussed as well as state and local population trends. Other topics covered at this year’s data conference will likely include:

  • Great Plains Socio-Economic & Demographic Trends
  • The Population Estimates Program
  • Information for Successful Grant Writing
  • Census Basics and Details for the 2010 Census!

Quarterly Training Workshops 2007-2008; 2008-2009

These hands-on, day-long training sessions focus on specific topics and computer skills that data users need to be effective and efficient. Most training sessions are held at ESU #3 in Omaha. PUMS Example: You've probably heard that "brain drain", young educated people leaving the state, might be a problem for Nebraska. Thus, the question arises about the characteristics of people moving into and out of the state. This example illustrates how PUMS can address this critical question about population groups not summarized in standard tables.

September 18 - American FactFinder

American FactFinder is the Census Bureau’s primary vehicle for the dissemination of Census 2000 data and maps on the Internet. American FactFinder includes the 1990 and 2000 Census of Population and Housing, the Economic Censuses, the American Community Survey (2000- 2006), and annual intercensal population estimates. more > >
