An important part of UNO's and CPACS' mission is to actively engage with the community. CPACS does this through a wide array of community and outreach programs and partnerships. Some of them are listed below, along with links to their Web sites for more information.

Airline Quality Rating - an annual report comparing airline quality on combined multiple performance criteria published by the Aviation Institute

Aguante Project - a mentoring program for at-risk Latino students from Omaha's inner city coordinated by the School of Social Work

Center for Organizational Research and Evaluation (CORE) - links faculty consultants from CPACS with governmental and nonprofit organizations

Center for Public Affairs Research (CPAR) - a research and community outreach unit of CPACS

Certificate in Fundraising Management (CFM) - a non-credit certificate program that provides in-depth training in vital areas of fundraising

Collaborating Center for Public Health and Community Service - a joint initiative with UNMC designed to promote the health and development of Nebraska's populations and communities through campus-community collaboration in education, training and service

Community Outreach Partnership Center - part of a HUD initiative designed to help colleges and universities to develop and sustain effective partnerships for rebuilding community.

Community Policing Initiative - School of Criminology and Criminal Justice's involvement with local and federal agencies in the implementation and evaluation of community policing

Energy Saving Potential Program - a collaborative project between OPPD and CPACS focused on improving and encouraging the wise use of energy by residents and small business owners

Family Economic Success Initiative (FESI) - a collaborative project between the United Way of the Midlands and CPACS to enhance family financial success through innovative programs, community outreach and educational opportunities, and influencing market behavior to connect working families

Gandhi Award - awarded annually by the School of Work and given to honor individuals and organizations that exemplify Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of nonviolence, selfless service and social action—which are consistent with social work values

International Criminal Justice Initiative - School of Criminology and Criminal Justice initiative; promotes cross-national research on crime and justice through research projects; publication focus; teaching; participation in editorial boards of international journals; organizational membership and activities; and participation in international conferences

Journal of Air Transportation (JAT) - an academic journal published by the Aviation Institute

Juvenile Justice Initiative (JJI) - School of Criminology and Criminal Justice provides technical assistance to the Legislature and administrative agencies in the State of Nebraska, including the Nebraska Crime Commission.

Nebraska Certified Public Manager (CPM) Program - a comprehensive management development program specifically for managers in federal, state, and local government and in non-profit organizations, accredited by the National CPM Consortium

Nebraska Municipal Clerk Institute and Master Municipal Clerk Academy - an annual continuing education program provided for Nebraska municipal clerks, operated by the School of Public Administration, accredited by the International Institute of Municipal Clerks

NASA Nebraska Space Grant & EPSCoR/NASA Nebraska Space Grant Consortium - a program of the Aviation Institute that strives to provide leadership in applied aspects of aeronautics

Nebraska Geospatial Extension Program - a NASA program developed to help meet the needs of potential users of geospatial technologies; a partnership between University of Nebraska at Omaha and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and located with the Aviation Institute

Nebraska State Data Center (NSDC) - U.S. Census Bureau's initiative providing easy and efficient access to data and information

Neighborhood Builders - free leadership training program held in February by the Neighborhood Center for Greater Omaha; the goal is to empower residents by training them to be change agents in their communities

Neighborhood Center for Greater Omaha (NCGO) - provides information and assistance to neighborhood associations to enable them to come together and develop their own leadership and decision-making structure and effectively address the issues affecting the quality of life in their communities

Neighborhood Energy Savings Program - a program funded under the energy saving potential program

Neighborhood Scan - a program of the School of Public Administration that uses technology to assist neighborhood residents in monitoring and documenting local conditions

Omaha Conditions Survey - an initiative at the Center for Public Affairs Research to monitor and improve the processes operating in Nebraska's urban areas by collecting quality information and making it accessible to those who need it

Police Professionalism Initiative - School of Criminology and Criminal Justice initiative; involves a number of different projects related to police professionalism and accountability.

Program for Women and Successful Aging (PWSA) - a member-based program of the Department of Gerontology developed to create a climate that encourages an appreciation of the elderly, their wisdom, their cultural diversity, and the multiple aspects of their aging process

Omaha Community Partnership (OCP) - implementation of a planning grant awarded to develop comprehensive and collaborative strategies to help prevent substance abuse, reduce violence and create a better understanding of mental health issues among area youth

Omaha Hate Crimes - an awareness campaign to send the message that Omaha is safe and welcoming for all people, administered by the School of Public Administration

Sentencing Outcomes Initiatives - Initiative of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice with the purpose to foster research on the sentencing process (including the charging and plea bargaining process), sentence outcomes, and sentencing reforms

William Brennan Institute for Labor Studies - an outreach unit of CPACS with a statewide mission is to foster creative and critical thinking among labor leaders, potential leaders, and interested members by providing relevant information and training in the skills needed in today’s changing economy and workplace
