what is the clerk academy?
The Nebraska Municipal Clerk Academy is an annual continuing education professional seminar held in Nebraska during March of each year. It is held during the same week as the Nebraska Municipal Clerk Institute. The UNO School of of Public Administration at the University of Nebraska at Omaha is responsible for operating the Academy with the approval of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC).
The purpose of the Academy is to meet the professional needs of Nebraska Clerks who have already completed the Institute program and achieved the prestigious Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation. Designed for more experienced Clerks, the Academy program offers opportunities to exchange new information, question current knowledge, challenge personal beliefs and assumptions, inspire and motivate individual learners, and undertake to share wisdom, insights, and new professional perspectives.
The Academy presentations are geared toward improving current skills, updating information, and expanding personal and professional growth potential. Attendance provides credits towards recertification and/or the Master Municipal Clerk (MMC) designation.
Although the main purpose of the Academy is to provide professional continuing education, a number of other events are held during the week.
