Why a Certificate Program?
Today there are nearly a million nonprofit organizations in the U.S. All are faced with cutbacks in federal aid, tough changes in tax laws, and heightened competition for corporate contributions. To succeed in this environment fundraising professionals must strengthen and refine their skills UNO's Certificate in Fundraising Management offers a noncredit, comprehensive program in skill upgrading.
Who Can Benefit?
The Certificate in Fundraising Management is for:
Fundraisers who want to grow in their careers
Individuals making the change to a more rewarding career field
Persons seeking to explore and prepare for fundraising as a new or different profession
Executives in nonprofits who wish to understand the fundraising function in detail
Experienced professionals who want an update of fundraising and a guide to new developments in the field.
Wht is the Course of Study?
The Certificate in Fundraising Management provides in-depth training in vital areas of fundraising. These areas include the annual campaign, planned giving, marketing and public relations, direct mail, grant writing, and strategic planning.
There are no prerequisites for these fundraising management courses. If you wish to earn UNO"s Certificate in Fundraising Management you need to complete a total of six courses: three of which must be from the core curriculum. The six courses must be completed within five years from the date you begin your first fundraising course.
You may also enroll in any combination of courses you choose if you would like to upgrade your skills in a specific area but not complete all of the Certificate requirements.
You may receive 1.5 Continuing Education Units, issued by the UNO College of Business Nebraska Business Development Center for each CFM course you complete. To receive CEUs there is a $10.00 fee for each course. CEUs are not required to receive the Certificate.
General Information
Most classes meet at the Omaha Home for Boys, 4343 North 52nd Street (52nd & Ames), Omaha, Nebraska. Free parking is available. Directions will be provided to registrants. You can view or download a PDF file with a map to the OHB location and a map of the OHB campus with approved parking lots highlighted.
The Spring 2007 Fundraising Concepts and Practices course will meet in Lincoln. Details coming soon.
Courses are held from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. on two consecutive days.
