CAS Information Technology
Office Technology All computer hardware purchases should be made in consultation with technical staff. Those in Durham Science Center and Allwine Hall should contact Gary Meyer. Those in Arts and Sciences Hall should contact Joan Bell. Gary and Joan will also provide set up and software installation for all Arts and Sciences computers. They are charged with ensuring that all computers are secured through proper configuration and appropriate software. Please do not connect any computer to the university network until Gary or Joan has secured it.
Classroom Technology CAS partners with Information Technology Services (ITS) in the creation and maintenance of high tech classrooms. High Tech classrooms are here defined as classrooms containing at least one computer and projector for presentation and instruction. Most high tech classrooms are maintained by ITS and instructors needing help with such should call the Help Desk at 554-HELP. Computer classrooms, those rooms in which there is a computer for each student's use, are maintained by CAS staff. The only exception in the CAS buildings is DSC 104, which is maintained by ITS. ITS also maintains two computer classrooms for occasional use in RH 007.
Campus-Wide Services such as email and Blackboard are managed by ITS. However, because our email package requires software installation and configuration on each client machine, Gary and Joan are your first line of support for email. ITS provides regular training and complete support for Blackboard.
