Committees

The College of Arts and Sciences has three standing committees. Standing committees are composed of elected members of the faculty. Members of the RPT Committee must also be tenured. Each standing committee is composed of three members from each division on staggered terms of three years.

Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee meets twice a month from September through May of each year.

The charge of the Advisory Committee is to meet with the Dean and lend their expertise and advice on any number of college matters, including matters initiated by the Dean, the Committee or the Faculty, college legislation formulation and implementation, college meetings, appointment of parliamentarian, college staff, facilities, and equipment, and strategic planning. The committee will select one of its members as the college representative to the Continuing Studies Advisory Committee. (See also CAS Bylaws Articles IV, V, VI, VIII, and XI.)

Such changes include the creation of new courses and any changes to existing courses (level, credit hours, prerequisites, significant revision, cross-listing, renumbering, title, catalog description) and elimination of courses.

The EPC is also authorized to pass on student petitions for relief from college rules, and to serve as an appeals committee for students who believe that evaluation of their academic progress has been prejudiced or capricious. For help in any of the above, go to the Academic Affairs Website.
