widget: 'Social Media' links

looks like this:

Why use it?

Your users, and potential users, are spending a lot of time on 'social media' sites like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, foursquare, and Flickr – so you should really think about having something there for them. Don't know what 'social media' means? Wikipedia can explain it (social media) better than we can. If you're already using 'social media,' and would like to promote that fact from your unomaha.edu page(s), we'd love to provide you with this nice little widget for your self-promotion. So please read on if you like.

How to use it

If you're using this widget in-line (not as an include), just copy the 'put this code in your page <body>' snippet and paste it in your page and you're done (after editing, of course). And speaking of editing ... here it comes now. All you'll need to do is edit the 'list items' (<li>) by first eliminating the ones you don't need, and then editing the URLs on the remaining 'list items' to point to your own accounts. Next, be sure to change the contents of the <h6> tag to the name of your college or department or whatever so users will know exactly whose social media accounts they link to.

If you create this widget as an include file, you can call it into several pages from that single file. Copy the code under 'use this code to call as an include' and save it into your 'inc' folder as 'social.htm.' Now you just need to 'include' that file on your page – copy the code under 'use this code to call as an include' and paste it into your page where you want the widget to appear. Presto!

put this code in your page <body> - or save it as an include:

<div id="list_social_lone">
    <div id="lselect_social">
        <h3><span>Follow Us:</span></h3>
        <h6>UNO</h6>
         <ul>
            <li><a href="http://www.facebook.com/youruser/" class="btn-face"><span class="hide">Facebook</span></a></li>
            <li><a href="http://twitter.com/youruser/" class="btn-twit"><span class="hide">Twitter</span></a></li>
            <li><a href="http://www.youtube.com/youruser" class="btn-yout"><span class="hide">TouTube</span></a></li>
            <li><a href="http://www.flickr.com/youruser/" class="btn-flik"><span class="hide">Flickr</span></a></li>
            <li><a href="https://www.foursquare.com/youruser/" class="btn-fours"><span class="hide">foursquare</span></a></li>
        </ul>
    </div>
</div>
use this code in your page <body> to call as an include:

<?php include('/web/yoursite/inc/social.htm'); ?>
Other Options

Don't have any social media accounts of your own yet but still want to promote UNO? Well you can! Just paste the code below into the left-hand column of any WTA_00 templated page, or into the left, or right-hand column of any WTA_02 templated page and you're all set with links to UNO's main social media accounts.

<?php include("/var/www/html/enotes/inc/default/social.htm"); ?>

note:

Don't make changes that compromise the designed function or appearance of the widgets. They should look, and behave, the same way no matter where they appear. Changes to font sizes, link colors, and/or other elements cause uncertainty for users, and compromise the visual and functional design that is part of the UNO brand. So please, use the widgets only as they are designed, and only for their intended uses. This widget is only for use in the left-hand column (03 LEFTNAV) of the WTA_00 template, or the left-hand column (03 LEFTNAV), or right-hand column (05 RIGHTNAV) of the WTA_02 template.
