Like the other widgets, this widget is also only for use in the WTA_01 template. But there is an important difference. This widget does not go in the right-hand column (04 Main Content Right Column) — it can only go in the '04 Main Content' area of the page.

widget: 'RSS'

looks like this (t [explained below]):

or looks like this (td [explained below]):

Why use it?

Want to provide links to your, or somebody else's RSS feed? Try the 'RSS' widget.

How to use it

Follow these steps:

  1. call the RSS stylesheet in your page <head>
  2. paste the code in your page <body>
  3. edit the pasted code in your page <body> - and as usual, don't mess with any of the other parts of the code.

The 'Title' and 'RSS button' in this widget get their values from the feed itself.

1. call the RSS stylesheet in your page <head>:

<link rel="stylesheet" href="" type="text/css" />
2. paste this code in your page <body>

<?php require_once ("/var/www/html/news/rss/rss2html.php");
buildhtml("", "t", 20);
3. edit the bolded parts (above) of the pasted code in your page <body>

<?php require_once ("/var/www/html/news/rss/rss2html.php");
buildhtml("", "t", 20);

RSS code

  • Replace the 'Feed URL' code - note that there are some ill-formed feeds out there that may not work with this widget.
  • Edit the 'How to display it' code - use 't' for titles only, or use 'td' for titles with short descriptions
  • Edit the 'How many to display' code to limit the number of results shown.

Don't make changes that compromise the designed function or appearance of the widgets. They should look, and behave, the same way no matter where they appear. Changes to font sizes, link colors, and/or other elements cause uncertainty for users, and compromise the visual and functional design that is part of the UNO brand. So please, use the widgets only as they are designed, and only for their intended uses.
