widget: 'Now Hear This' multiple audio files

looks like this:

now hear this

This feature requires JavaScript and the Flash Player.

Student Stories

UNO student news stories are airing on Classical 90.7 KVNO. Listen to samples of their stories.

Why use it?

Got lots of audio files? Are they MP3s? If so, then you're all set to use our audio file player (Now Hear This).

How to use it

This widget requires MP3 files, image(s), and an XML file to work. Step by step instructions:

  1. Start with the XML file. Copy and save the 'copy and save this code as 'your-nht-filename.xml'' code below. First edit all the bold text. Add or delete as many <track> items as you need – one for each of your MP3 files. The example code has 3 (even though the example player shows more).
  2. You'll notice that each track has a <location> tag. Edit the contents to point to your MP3. You'll also need to edit the <image> tag content to point to an image that will show when the audio is playing. You can use the same image for all of them, or a unique image for each. Those images must be exactly 275px wide by 183px high. Shoot for something around 15K or less. Don't worry about the <creator> tags.
  3. Now you can copy the 'put this code in your page <body>' section below. Edit the bold text 'file' variable to point to the XML file you created. If you do not want the player to randomly select which file to show when the page loads, change the 'shuffle' variable (in bold) to false. Don't mess with any of the other parts of the code. Now edit the headline and text (don't change the paragraph classes). Edit the links if needed (again, don't change the paragraph class), and if not just delete that paragraph.
1. copy and save this code as 'your-nht-filename.xml':

<playlist version="1" xmlns="">
<title>UNO | Yoursite | YourPlaylist</title>
<annotation>University of Nebraska at Omaha - Yoursite</annotation>

<title>Mike Vax Big Band Concert</title>

<title>STRATCOM Conference</title>

<track> <title>Criss Library Fines</title>

2. put this code in your page <body>:

<div class="nht-275">
  <h3>now hear this</h3>
  <span class="btns-r"></span>
  <p id="nht-player-multi" style="margin-top:0;padding:0;">This feature requires JavaScript and <a href="">the Flash Player</a>.</p>
  <script type="text/javascript">
  var nht = new SWFObject('','mpl','275','320','1');
  <div class="box_txt">
    <p class="box_77"><strong>Student Stories</strong></p>
    <p class="box_77">UNO student news stories are airing on Classical 90.7 KVNO. Listen to samples of their stories.</p>
    <p class="fineprint"><a href="">KVNO</a> | <a href="">UNO</a></p>

Don't make changes that compromise the designed function or appearance of the widgets. They should look, and behave, the same way no matter where they appear. Changes to font sizes, link colors, and/or other elements cause uncertainty for users, and compromise the visual and functional design that is part of the UNO brand. So please, use the widgets only as they are designed, and only for their intended uses. These widgets are only for use in the right-hand column (04 Main Content Right Column) of the WTA_01 template.
