Bethsaida, situated on the north shore of the Sea of Galilee, was founded in the10th century BCE as the capital city of the biblical kingdom of Geshur.

During the Time of Jesus Bethsaida served as the birthplace of three Apostles Peter, Andrew and Philip and a place where Jesus performed many miracles, it is one of the most frequently mentioned towns in the New Testament.

A DAILY SCHEDULE

Work requires various levels of physical conditioning, but there is a job for everyone. Work includes digging, sifting dirt, washing pottery and finds and sorting and cataloguing finds.

  • Work days are Monday - Friday
  • 5:30am – 12:30 pm Daily work begins
  • 9:00 am. – 9:40 pm Breakfast at the site
  • 1:00 pm Lunch at the hotel
  • 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm Lab works “pottery reading”
  • 7:00 pm Dinner
  • 8:00 – 9:00pm Lecture

Prices include:

  • Breakfast on site.
  • Room and board, lunch and dinner are served at the Kibbutz’s hotel.
  • Transportation from the airport one time at the beginning of every session.
  • Transportation to and from the site

ACCOMMODATIONS

The expedition participants are housed in air-conditioned cottages at Kibbutz Ginosar Inn on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee. To learn more about Kibbutz Ginosar, visit their website at:

Services available at the Kibbutz:

  • All participants must arrange for international health and personal insurance coverage through their own universities and carriers.
  • The participation fee includes a laundry service done once a week.
  • Participants may use the swimming pool of the Kibbutz hotel.
  • Clinics and a hospital are available in the town of Tiberias, a few miles away from Ginosar.
