Institution Level Assessment

Faculty are less directly involved at the institutional level of assessment than at the course or program level. Data on student learning and improvements in student learning are collected, analyzed, and put into context with institutional indicators for communication to the university’s various constituencies through the institutional portfolio.

Plan

  • Review Strategic Plan Goals
  • Review Office of Academic and Student Affairs Strategic Objectives
  • Embed appropriate Strategic Plan Goals and Academic Affairs Objectives into department or program objectives

Improve

  • Results are reviewed at the Cabinet level
  • Results are compared to institutional benchmarks and expectations
  • Areas of weakness and strength are identified at Cabinet level and Dean’s Forum, as appropriate
  • Initiatives are developed related to what results reveal
  • Budget decisions are data driven
  • Results and data-driven improvements are communicated to multiple constituencies
  • New assessment cycle begins

Collect

  • Collection of data on student learning takes place through myMAPP/student
  • Evidence of student learning that has been analyzed and interpreted is reported
  • Information on faculty contributions to Strategic Goals and Objectives are collected and made meaningful through myMAPP/faculty
