Assessment is a continual cycle of plan, collect, improve

Assessment at UNO: Now and in the Future

by Sheri Rogers, Associate Vice Chancellor and Director of Assessment

UNO’s decision to take the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) path to accreditation has made it imperative that we move forward in articulating our expectations for student learning at all levels. This means that we must clearly state:

  • What students will know and be able to do
  • How we will know it
  • How we are going to use the information we collect to continuously improve student learning...continue

Welcome

This website is intended to be both a resource and a tool for helping the UNO community to deepen its commitment as an AQIP institution to the continuous improvement of student learning, by advancing our knowledge and understanding of assessment as a necessary part of that process.

Please note that the site is divided into Faculty and Staff tabs at top left, so that you can find the information you need as quickly as possible.

Like assessment itself, this website is meant to be dynamic and fluid. Be sure to check back often to see the new resources, tools and opportunities that are available. Also, if you have any suggestions for materials, resources, etc., that you would like to see made available, please do not hesitate to email your ideas to assessment@unomaha.edu.

Nine AQIP Categories

As an AQIP institution, we are responsible for assessing and documenting continuous improvement in the following key areas or ‘categories’:

  • Helping Students Learn
  • Accomplishing Other Distinctive Objectives
  • Understanding Students and Other Stakeholders’ needs
  • Valuing People
  • Leading and Communicating
  • Supporting Institutional Operations
  • Measuring Effectiveness
  • Planning Continuous Improvement
  • Building Collaborative Relationships

Full explanations of AQIP principles and processes are available at http://www.aqip.org.
