Getting Started with Blackboard - register
Time: 8:30am - 12:00 noon
Location: Durham Science Center (DSC), Room 104
Outcomes: Attendees will be able to use the Control Panel to set up a Blackboard course. Learn to organize work into folders, add a syllabus, post office hours, and incorporate graphic files. This course is a pre-requisite for all other Blackboard courses.

Grade Center - register
Time: 1:00pm - 3:30pm
Location: Durham Science Center (DSC), Room 104
Outcomes: Attendees will be able to use the Gradebook feature to post student grades associated with assessments within Blackboard and assignments graded outside of Blackboard. The course will also cover using many of the new features within the new Grade Center.

Outcomes: Attendees will be able to use the Assignments feature to:
- Place assignment within a folder
- Provide detailed instructions on the assignment
- Attach files for the assignment
- Download multiple files at once
- Delete multiple files at once
- Ensure assignments are automatically added to the gradebook
- Send comments and files back to student
- Write comments attached to a student assignment only the instructor will see

Discussion Board/Chat- register
Time: 9:00am - 11:30am
Location: Durham Science Center (DSC), Room 104
Outcomes: The discussion board is used as a communication tool between the faculty and student and between students and students. Faculty can pose a discussion question and students respond to both the instructor and other students. Students do not have to be on-line at the same time to communicate. Conversations are grouped into forums that contain threads and all related replies. We will discuss when it is appropriate to use discussion board or chat. The discussion board can be easily graded.
Chat is now referred to as Collaboration Tools. The Collaboration Tools can be used to hold real-time, online classroom discussions, TA sessions, and office hour type question/answer forums. Guest speakers and subject matter experts can also communicate with the class using the Collaboration Tools.
Collaboration Tools has two parts:
1. Virtual Classroom - Allows users to enter real-time discussion with Instructors, Students, and colleagues; access the Web; and engage in question and answer sessions.
2. Chat - uses only the Chat function of the Virtual Classroom.

Discussion Board/Chat- register

Advanced RSS for Podcasting - register
Time: 1:00pm - 2:30pm
Location: Durham Science Center (DSC), Room 104
Description: The ITS Academic Partnership for Instruction (API) will host an Advanced RSS for Podcasting class that is designed to show users how to disseminate news and/or audio casts over the web by creating an XML/RSS document.
User will learn:
- The use of XML as a means for audio casting, news casting
- Basic knowledge of the XML coding language
- How to use a feed aggregator for posting RSS programs
- How to obtain a RSS button
- How to make RSS available on a website
User needs to:
- Have knowledge of how to use the internet
- Have basic knowledge of html
- Know what a news reader/aggregator is
- Have knowledge of subscribing to a podcast
- Be interested in publishing audio or news casts over the web
- Desire to post news or audio casts for student/academic community

Web Templates I: Planning and Organization - register
Time: 1:30pm - 3:00pm
Location: Roskens Hall 007A
Description: This session will focus on the organizational structure of the UNO Web Template and how it can be used in conjunction with your existing web site structure or to create a new structure. We will use several forms to diagram the site layout, to keep track of site navigation, as well as devise the naming structure. We will also discuss the different organizational elements of the template, review campus examples, and discuss how the template can best be used for your site. This is an essential session to attend before starting work with the web templates.

Web Templates II: Setup and Page Development - register
Time: 1:30pm - 3:30pm
Location: Roskens Hall 007A
Description: This hands-on session will focus on working with the Web Template files in Dreamweaver and creating a model page to be used as the basis for all other pages on your site. We will briefly review the Dreamweaver set-up and preferences. The primary focus of this session will be creating a model page, establishing a color scheme for the site, setting the page titles, working with the tabs and the includes.

Description: This third and final hands-on session will focus on completing our model web page with the main content as well as the footer. Additionally we will cover adding graphics and using fonts. Once we have this model completed we are well on our way to having a fully functional web site.

Description: In this hands on session, participants will learn to: work with the Ribbon Menu; find everyday, common commands they need; and use the new file format for Word in the most convenient way for them.
This course is not meant to teach new users all of the features of Word, but to teach current users of Word 2003 to use the new Office 2007 interface to perform common Word tasks.
