Colin English



Troy Hansen

Troy began his graduate assistantship with the Aviation Institute in the Fall of 2012. He graduated from the Aviation Institute in May 201, with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation-Professional Flight. Troy is originally from Lincoln, Nebraska. He is an active flight and ground instructor as well as a member of the FAA Safety Team, Troy is also a CFI for Advanced Air and the Council Bluffs Airport. Prior to his assistantship, he worked with the NASA Space Grant Office to develop and conduct workshops for teachers across the state of Nebraska to introduce aviation into the public school system.


James Slabaugh

James Slabaugh began his graduate assistantship with the Aviation Institute in January of 2011. As part of his assistantship, James is the head coach of the UNO “Flying Mavs” Flight Team. He holds a commercial pilot certificate, instrument rating and, in addition to his GA duties, is a CFI for Hangar One at the Millard Airport. James is from Omaha and completed his undergraduate work at UNO, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aviation-Professional Flight and a Marketing Minor. His ultimate career goal is to become a professional pilot for an airline or corporate flight department.


Deanna Stoddard

Deanna began her assistantship in the Fall of 2011. She is an instrument-rated private pilot and is currently pursuing her commercial license. Deanna completed her undergraduate degree at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Law and a minor in Spanish. Upon graduation, she became a 2005 Teach For America corps member and taught middle school and high school Spanish in rural North Carolina. Prior to enrolling at UNO, Deanna received an Associate of Applied Science degree from both the Aviation Management and Professional Pilot programs at Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania.
