Sean Cappel

Sean Cappel

Sean Cappel is a 2008 graduate of the Aviation Institute’s Bachelor of Science in Aviation-Professional Flight program. He is currently a simulator instructor for the Institute. Mr. Cappel is also a flight instructor for Advanced Air at the Council Bluffs Airport. He currently holds a CFII, MEI, Commercial Multi Land Instrument, AGI, and IGI ratings. In the fall of 2010, Sean will leave for undergraduate pilot training for the South Dakota Air National Guard’s 114th Fighter Wing where he will train to be a F-16 pilot.

Rebecca Lutte

Rebecca K. Lutte

Dr. Rebecca Lutte is adjunct instructor with the Aviation Institute and Public Administration department. She has worked for UNO for over 15 years and currently instructs in several graduate level courses including Public Policy, Organization Theory, Aviation Policy, and Aviation Airport Administration. Dr. Lutte has a BS in Professional Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, a Master of Public Administration with an Aviation Minor from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and a Doctorate in Public Administration with an Aviation Minor from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

She is a former regional airline pilot whose FAA certifications include Commercial Pilot, Multi and Single Engine; Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument and Multi-Engine; and Advanced Instrument -Ground Instructor.

Dr. Lutte has authored articles and has made professional presentations on numerous topics. Her current research interests are in the areas of aviation safety and policy in the United States and Africa and distance education technology, delivery, and management. She is also a reviewer for several academic journals.

Dr Lutte lives in Montgomery, TX with her husband Steve, a Continental pilot and guest lecturer at the AI, and their two boys. They are currently completing a family project, an RV-7, with a projected first flight coming soon.

Robert Moser

Robert H. “Bob” Moser

Mr. Moser is an adjunct instructor in the professional flight program where he also serves as a simulator instructor. His certificates and ratings include an ATP in multi engine, a Commercial Pilot in single engine and gliders, and Certificated Flight Instructor (SEL, MEL, Glider and Instrument).  Bob is also a tail wheel zealot, a glider tow pilot, and holds AGI and IGI Ground Instructor certificates. His other aviation activities include VP of the Omaha Soaring Club, Young Eagle pilot w/250+ missions, columnist for NE Dept of Aeronautics periodical - PIREPS, OPS summer aviation camp pilot, and ground school instructor for the Omaha Home Educators Network.  He also manages his own tail wheel flight training school, Heartland Flight.  Mr. Moser is perhaps best known for his musical accomplishments.  He is the Director and Founder of the AVI8ORS Ensemble, a WWII era USO show band that performs around the country.  To learn more see www.avi8ors.com.

John Rued

Mr. Rued is an adjunct instructor in the professional flight program.He is a retired USAF RC-135 navigator.   He graduated from the US Air Force Academy in 1986 with a BS in Electrical Engineering and earned a MS in Industrial Management and Engineering Technology from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1995. Mr. Rued holds CFI, CFI-I, and MEI certificates and flight instructs at Flight Nebraska Group located at Eppley Airfield in Omaha. When he isn’t flying, he enjoys riding his road bike or driving his British sports car.

Jennifer Shamsy

Jennifer Shamsy

Ms. Shamsy received her Bachelors of Science degree in Aviation Technology from Purdue University and Masters of Aeronautical Science (Human Factors Specialization) from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide.  She also holds numerous FAA ratings and certificates including Commercial Pilot Certificate (Single/Instrument), Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Multi/Instrument), Flight Engineer – Turbojet Certificate, Certified Flight Instructor Certificate (Single/Multi/Instrument), Ground Instructor Certificate, and several type ratings.  Shamsy is a Canadair Regional Jet Captain and has been employed for over ten years at Atlantic Southeast Airlines, Inc.

Ms. Shamsy’s academic interests include research in the area of instructional design, distance learning, human factors in aviation, and aviation safety.  She resides with her husband and children in Atlanta, Georgia.

Brett Teten

Brett Teten

Mr. Teten is an adjuct instructor in the professional flight program. He holds a BA and a MA in English from UNO. Mr. Tetan has over 5,500 hours of flight time which included time as a Charter Pilot for Hangar One, a Corporate Pilot for the Omaha Paper Stock Company and a First Officer for JetLinx Aviation. Currently he is a CFI at Hangar One. He currently holds an ATP Multi-Engine Land Instrument Rating, Commercial Single-Engine Land Instrument Rating, CFI, CFII, and MEI.
