Maj Heather Wempe, Operations Flight Commander

As the Operations Flight Commander she is primarily responsible for cadet training. She also is the Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies for the AS 100 and AS 300 courses. Maj Wempe graduated from South Dakota State University and commissioned through AFROTC Det 780. Upon graduation she moved to Los Angeles AFB as a personnel officer working in Officer Promotions and the Military Personnel Flight. While in Los Angeles AFB Maj Wempe deployed to Iraq in support of Multi-National Forces-Iraq Personal Security Coordination Cell.

When she returned, she moved to Dyess AFB, TX where she served as a Section Commander for the 317th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and eventually became the Manpower and Personnel Flight Commander. While at Dyess AFB, she completed a Master's of Science Degree in Organizational Human Resource Development with a Certificate in Conflict Resolution. Maj Wempe deployed again to Baghdad, Iraq, where she served as the Personnel Element Chief for the Air Component Coordination Element. Shortly after returning from Iraq, Maj Wempe moved to Omaha to serve at Det 470!
