Welcome to the 12 Month Operational Plan Project web site.
The 12 Month Operational Plan Project was chartered by Chancellor Christensen on October 3, 2007. This action is motivated by Dr. Christensen's belief that examining all opportunities for the future of our campus and its people is vitally important. In describing his charge, the Chancellor said,
" I have no preconceived notion as to what the answer may be. Based on what the future may hold, full consideration of twelve month operations is very important The higher education landscape is changing daily. It has become very competitive. Costs are growing at the same time that state support is trending down. Expectations of UNO are growing. All of these changes support a careful look at our operational options with the clear understanding that serving students is a priority. This will take a willingness and openness to consider all options. It will require a campus conversation so that every voice is represented and heard."
Chancellor Christensen created a Task Force to undertake a rigorous and accelerated study of the opportunities for UNO to provide meaningful year round educational offerings. The Task Forcecompleted its report and delivered it to the Chancellor on January 28, 2008.
On March 10, 2008, Chancellor Christensen announced the formation of four work groups to address the issues identified with the Task Force Report that required further analysis
- Budget process and allocation of resources;
- Student demand;
- Financial aid policies and procedures; and
- Policies and procedures related to faculty and the administration of units on campus
The purpose of each workgroup is to fully examine the assigned issue and report the group's findings to the Chancellor. As with the 12-Month Operational Plan Task Force, the workgroups will be expected to meet frequently and complete their assignments quickly.
