We are all privileged to be a part of this great institution as it celebrates 100 years of rich history and charts a course for an even brighter future. The Centennial theme, 'Central to Our City,' is truly representative of the mission of our metropolitan university. We look forward to joining all of our civic, academic and corporate partners in making this celebration memorable.
Several signature events are planned including a five-day campus-wide Centennial kick-off that coincides with Homecoming in October 2008 and a community-wide gala in February, 2009. In addition, we will all have an opportunity to participate in special college- and unit-specific events during the Centennial Year.
Russell L. Smith is chairing the UNO100 Steering Committee and Task Force. We are looking for additional volunteers (follow this link for more information). Please join us in preparing for, and celebrating, the UNO Centennial!
The University of Nebraska at Omaha celebrates its 100th Anniversary beginning on October 8, 2008. This celebration recognizes the partnership among the City of Omaha, its citizens and UNO to build a vibrant, and dynamic community. The centennial theme is UNO: Central To Our City Since 1908. This theme celebrates UNO's contributions of the past 100 years and provides a time to focus on UNO's connection to the vitality of the metropolitan area as a metropolitan university for the 21st Century.
Are you planning an event or project designed to commemorate the UNO Centennial? We are maintaining a UNO Centennial master calendar with all the centennial related events and projects planned during the centennial year (October 2008 through September 2009). Please e-mail Tim Kaldahl (tkaldahl@mail.unomaha.edu) or Becky Bohan Brown (rbrown@mail.unomaha.edu) with your event or project name, a short description, contact information, and whether it is acceptable to post the event or project on the calendar.
The UNO events calendar can be accessed by clicking on this link. We encourage everyone to incorporate the centennial theme, 'Central to Our City' into their projects and events during the centennial year and look forward to celebrating this milestone very soon.
